The Lonestar portable analyzer allows rapid detection of bottle rinse cleaning solvent DBE-3 (dibasic esters) and DMS (dimethyl sebacate) in PET (polyethylene terephthalate) beverage bottles and food containers at concentrations below 50 ppb, aiding compliance with FDA food contact notifications.
Recent FDA regulations require Food Contact Notifications (FCN) for food contact substances such as residual cleaning solvents in plastic food containers. FCNs stipulate maximum concentrations of certain chemicals in beverages and foodstuffs.
Incorporating Owlstone’s proprietary FAIMS technology, Lonestar offers a fast and sensitive solution to the screening of food containers for food contact substances prior to filling. Lonestar's portability and ease of operation allows it to be used by non-specialists, right on the production line.
