Propofol (2,6-diisopropylphenol) Anaesthetic DetectionPropofol (2,6-diisopropylphenol, a.k.a. Diprivan) is used as an intravenous general anaesthetic. Existing measurement techniques for IV anaesthetics require offline blood samples, making them unsuitable for monitoring anaesthetic depth and for ensuring patient safety. The Owlstone Lonestar Analyzer is able to detect propofol at sub part per billion concentrations in under 10 seconds. In addition, Lonestar is highly portable and can be operated by non-specialists.
